- THE INTERNATIONAL PATTERN & ITS ANOMALIES -

The following deck is also a reproduction of an old American deck. The Harlequin playing cards were originally designed by C.L. Carryl and published in 1879. The reproduction can be easily recognized. In the original deck the designs cover the whole card.

Here too the red suits seem to be the ones that are having fun and leading the good life. This time the Spades have been struck by physical discomfort and the Clubs seem to be the strict family. Only here the mother seems to be in control, while dad tries to sneak in after his visit to the local pub. No luck this time!

The deck was printed by H. Fournier in 1971 and published by Tiffany & Co. from New York in a doublebox with 2 decks. Each consists of 52 cards, 2 jokers and 1 extra card.
