- THE INTERNATIONAL PATTERN & ITS ANOMALIES -
-49-
The design of the next deck is done in 3 colors only. A
reference to the international pattern is recognized immediately by the complex
and colorful center design. Most of the attributes are used and there's a
suicide King of Hearts and a one-eyed Jack of Spades.
But at the same time
there's humor in the design, with anachronisms like a microphone, a
suit-and-tie, a cocktail or a filter cigarette. And see how the Queen of
Diamonds looks at her pealed banana!

| The Reno Playing Cards were printed by Nintendo from
Kyoto in 1980. The name Reno probably doesn't refer to the US city, but
to a Japanese cartoon character.
The deck consists of 52 cards and 2 (similar) jokers.
