Fashionable Decks with a Fragrance

Here's a personal favourite. Karl Lagerfeld is one of the big names in anything that has to do with fashion. Although the deck wasn't made to promote his products, we think it will fit in this xpo. The deck shows 52 examples of fashion in the old days and may have inspired Lagerfeld in his creations. And even if it was only an investment to him.........they are fine portrays!

The deck was published at the occasion of the auction of paintings, furniture and art objects from Karl Lagerfeld at Christies in New York and Monaco in 2000.

The deck shows 52 different portrays, probably details from 18th and 19th century paintings.

The card denominations are inserted in the left upper corner. The courts seem to be based upon an older single image French pattern and have small English indices beneath the figure, probably to avoid a mix-up of the Kings and Jacks.

The aces are plain and without indicators. The numbercards do not have any numbers either.

The numbercards of each suit can be seen by clicking on the suit's Ace.

Some more cards and the box can be seen on the next page.
