We have never said this before in regards to playing cards, but in this case we plead for the death penalty for the publisher. We don't know if the censorship was done by a government organization or self inflicted by the publisher, but in both cases he began a mortal sin by intervening (or agreeing to that) in original art. Better not to publish these works of art than in this mutilated way. It shows no respect to the creative artists from the Ukiyo-E period. At the same time the publisher has the audacity to claim something in the title that he can't or won't deliver on the cards: sex.

We know that pornographic decks and their production are still forbidden in China and maybe these ancient works of erotic art are still too explicit for the Chinese officials at this point in time, but even if this was an attempt by the publisher to bring pornography, disguised as art, to the public, it fails in every way.
