INTRO

Female nudity has a long history in the arts. From the Greek and Roman statues or fresco's to contemporary video artists, female nudity still seems to catch the eye of the artist and the beholder of his work. During all these centuries social, moral and ethical views have influenced the acceptability and degree of nudity that could be shown. During the dark medieval times there was hardly any nudity -female or male- depicted and the Victorian era wasn't known for it's liberalism in sexual exposure either. But in every period there were artists who have stretched or discarded the then ruling views.

And of one thing they could be sure........................there was, is and will always be an audience!

In the 20th century the name "pin-up" became known for drawn pictures of scarcely dressed women in the 1940's and 50's. These pictures were pinned up against the wall. Auto repair shops probably led the way. The drawn pin-ups also give a good view on the social, moral and ethical standards of their time. By the 1970's they had lost their attraction and the market got to know the first pornographic decks. They have been almost completely off the scene during the 1980's, but there is renewed appreciation since the 1990's and a modern version of the old-time pin-up's has popped up in several countries. Airbrush techniques are used to depict the models as realistic as possible. These same airbrushes were used in the 1950's to retouch the private parts -when in sight- of the women on the first photographic pin-up decks. They were "shaved" and rendered genderless.
We have defined pin-up's as being drawn or photographic images of a single woman in a certain pose. Anything else we have stored as "erotica".

Erotic art in general, and here on playing cards in special, covers a divers variety of expressions. It has many forms: drawn pin-ups, photo pin-ups, humorous drawings, pornographic drawings or pornographic photography. In our collection we have drawn some lines. We have only a few photographic pin-up decks, that were published after 1975, and there are no photographic porno decks in our collection. All other varieties are there. After showing all our decks here, we've put the past xpo's on a CD-r. This CD is available at request. In this Xpo we'll show you all the different decks that we have acquired after the Pin-Up's & Erotica CD was published.
